Launching a brand-new organization can be an exciting and nerve-wracking experience for even the most cool-headed individuals. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of biting off more than one can chew are just some of the reasons why organization leaders hesitate and why organizations have trouble getting off the ground.

Diversity has always been a key contributing factor to our success. As we know, companies that embrace diversity are much more successful in their business and see greater profits and are more connected within their communities. So, what does diversity really mean?

At Virtual, we believe that we have a responsibility to give back. This is why generosity is one of our core values. This year we’re proud to continue our efforts to engage our communities and help those in need through our Virtual Cares program and Social Impact Fund, which create opportunities for us as individuals and a company to show generosity in different ways.

In this post we talk with former client Bob Russo (PCI Security Standards Council) who first recruited Virtual in 2007 to sponsor his family’s team for Jimmy Fund Day at Fenway. Team Russo has now raised more than $2 million for Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

The Shields Center for Innovation develops action-oriented problem-solvers who understand self, others, and context. We provide the conditions for students to recognize unmet needs rooted in an individual care and concern for each person. Students build their innovation mindset and entrepreneurial muscle as they address real-world problems. As students identify opportunities, experiment, reflect, and iterate with those they are serving, they recognize their own agency to make an impact.
