Evolving with Purpose: What’s Next for Virtual
By Greg Kohn, CEO
When we announced earlier this year that our CEO of more than 15 years, Andy Freed, would transition to Chair, it marked the beginning of a new chapter for Virtual. Andy’s impact on this company is profound. He helped shape who we are, how we serve our clients, and the culture that defines Virtual today.
Clients and partners have understandably been curious about what this evolution means for Virtual — and for them. As the company’s new CEO, I want to take this opportunity to share where we’re headed next.
For more than 25 years, Virtual has been built on a strong foundation of client trust, financial discipline, and culture. That foundation remains firmly in place, and our focus now is on continuing to raise the bar in how we support the membership-based organizations we serve.
This next chapter is not about changing who we are. It’s about refining how we work, strengthening how we engage with clients, and elevating the impact we deliver.
I’ve spent more than 15 years helping shape Virtual’s strategy, service delivery, and client relationships. Prior to joining the company, I led the IEEE Industry Standards Organization through a period of sustained growth and served as Executive Director for several technology standards organizations. Together, those experiences guide how I’m leading Virtual’s next chapter — with clarity, discipline, and a focus on impact.
That focus shows up in three key areas:
Value Delivery
As a professional services firm, how we deliver services is fundamental to our success. But our ambition goes beyond simply completing projects. We are focused on delivering tangible value in every interaction, whether that’s through sharper insight, clearer communication, or more measurable outcomes.
For our clients, this means more proactive partnership and work that is directly tied to their goals and impact.
Technology Enablement
We are operating in a period of rapid technological change, fueled in large part by advances in AI and related innovations. Our focus is not only on using technology effectively within Virtual, but on bringing these tools thoughtfully into our client engagements.
For our clients, this means applying emerging technologies in practical ways that strengthen delivery, improve decision‑making, and help organizations stay ahead of change.
Services Optimization
We are continuing to evolve our services and capabilities to align with the shifting needs of membership organizations. This work goes beyond incremental improvement. It’s about ensuring our offerings remain relevant, scalable, and impactful well into the future. Just as importantly, we are inviting our clients into this evolution, working together with us to shape what comes next.
I’m proud to lead Virtual alongside a deeply experienced executive team and staff committed to service excellence. It’s the people I work with every day who give me confidence in where we’re headed.
As we continue to grow and welcome new organizations into the Virtual community, our true measure of success remains the same: helping membership organizations Make Their Mark on the World.
